Public urged to stay out of Palolo Stream following wastewater discharge

The State Department of Health is urging residents to stay out of Palolo Stream after almost 3,000 gallons of untreated wastewater entered the stream Sunday morning.

The city's Department of Environmental Services responded to the call around 8 a.m. and the flow subsided shortly before 9:30 a.m.

They say it happened on 9th Avenue near Palolo Valley District Park.

Officials say signs have been posted and warn residents to stay out of the water until the signs are removed.
