Flood Advisory issued for Kauai - Hawaii News Now - KGMB and KHNL

Flood advisory issued for Kauai until 6:45 p.m.

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for Kauai until 6:45 p.m.

  • At 5:14 p.m., radar showed heavy rain near near Lihue and a rain Gage near Lihue reported rain falling at 2.5 inches per hour.

  • Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Kealia, Kapaa, Wailua, Poipu and Kalaheo. This advisory may need to be extended beyond 6:45 pm Hst if Heavy Rain persists.
  • At 3:24 p.m., a Gage at Hanalei reported heavy rainfall with a rate of more than 2 inches per hour. Radar also showed moderate to heavy rain near Kapaa and Wainiha. The area of heavy rain was nearly stationary.

  • Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Haena, Na Pali State Park, Moloaa, Princeville, Kilauea and Kalihiwai. This advisory may need to be extended beyond 6:30 p.m. if Heavy Rain persists.
