Big Island police have charged a man who was arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing Tuesday afternoon in the Eden Roc subdivision.

Detectives charged 34-year-old David True Seal of Mountain View with second-degree murder.

He is being held without bail at the Hilo police cellblock pending his initial court appearance scheduled for Friday.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday to determine the exact cause of death of the victim, 32-year-old Rory Thompson Wick of Mountain View.

State officials say Seal was last seen in 2009 when he escaped from Hawaii State Hospital in Kaneohe.

He had been acquitted of two counts of sex assault and two counts of kidnapping by reason of insanity, and committed to the hospital in 2002.

While there, he demonstrated a pattern of violence, allegedly assaulting another patient and staffer before his escape.
