Classes at Queen Kaahumanu Elementary School have been cancelled Wednesday after a car accident disrupted water service to the campus.

Early Wednesday morning, a taxi cab crashed into a water valve on the school's campus, knocking out water service and resulting in the arrest of a man who is likely behind the incident.

Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, but authorities say a taxi cab driver was assaulted at around 1:30 a.m., and that the assault led to the crash.

The suspect in the assault was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation after police sources said he told the cab driver that he needed to get to higher ground to avoid a tsunami, then tried to grab the wheel of the taxi.

The Department of Education must handle the repairs, according to a Board of Water Supply spokesperson, and it was not immediately known how long the repairs would take.
