Senates confirms Maui district court judge

HONOLULU (AP) - The state Senate has confirmed the nomination of a Maui district court judge.

A Senate announcement says Lloyd Poelman's nomination was confirmed Monday. He was nominated by Chief Justice Mark Recktenwald and was subject to Senate confirmation.

Poelman is currently a partner of a Wailuku law firm. His practice includes personal and business law, personal injury, bankruptcy, insurance defense, property law and estate planning. He's also a pier diem judge in Family Court on Maui. He has a law degree from the Brigham Young University.

He will serve a term of six years.
