HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Friends and classmates of a missing Farrington High School student-athlete will hold an on-campus rally Monday evening in a show of support for the teenager and his family.
Dayne Ortiz, a cornerback on the Governors football team, was last seen at around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, when his kayak overturned in waters off of Mokuleia near the Polo Fields.
Crews searched throughout the weekend for Ortiz and resumed again at 6:30 a.m. Monday morning.
The 'Gov Love for Dayne' rally is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Kusonoki Field on Farrington's campus. Organizers are asking anyone who attends to wear school colors and to bring a cell phone or glowstick to "bring a positive light" to the Ortiz family.
During their lunch break Monday, hundreds of students gathered on the football field for a prayer vigil and moment of silence in honor of Ortiz.
