HAWAII KAI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A broken water main inside a manhole on Kanakou Place on Mariner's Ridge sent a geyser of water shooting into the sky early Monday morning.
Honolulu Board of Water Supply crews say the break happened at around 2:00 a.m.
Residents in the area say the force of the geyser, which some estimated to be as high as 50 feet, was powerful enough to launch bricks and other debris from inside the manhole onto the street.
Some residents reported minor damage to vehicles from the falling debris.
Officials have turned off the water in the area, and 18 customers are believed to have been affected by the break. A water wagon will provide water to nearby residents.
Officials say they hope to have the problem fixed by around 12 p.m. on Monday.
