HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Warrior football team's longest road trip of the season is already off to an exciting start.
After leaving for Logan Thursday for its game with Utah State, the team was stranded in Los Angeles Friday morning after a shooting at Los Angeles International Airport.
As of Friday afternoon, players and coaches are in a hotel near LAX and are expected to leave for Utah early Saturday morning.
The incident also stranded UH athletics director Ben Jay on the LAX tarmac and says the team's activities will resume as planned.
"They are having team mtgs," Jay said via text message. "We will let our kids sleep, get up and eat pregame and UTU (Utah Sate University) and win. Anytime, anywhere. Hawaii tough."
Mountain West conference officials announced that the game between the Aggies and Hawaii will go on as planned and kickoff is still set for 2pm Mountain Time (10 am Hawaii Standard Time).
