Police arrest Maui escapee missing since October

Maui Community Correctional Center inmate escapee Reid Kauhaahaa is back in custody. Details of his arrest have not been released

On October 28, Kauhaahaa walked away from a work line in the Waikapu area.

Maui Police and Sheriffs were notified.

Kauhaahaa was Community Custody status which means he was allowed to work in the community.   He was in the work furlough program.  

Kauhaahaa was serving 5 years for Burglary 2 and Theft 2.  His next parole hearing was scheduled for 2/28/14.  An escape charge will be added.

Police on Maui are searching for an inmate who escaped during work detail with the Maui Community Corrections Center.

Reid I. L. Kauhaahaa was last seen at noon on Monday, October 28 near the Waikapu on 30 Restaurant along Honoapiilani Highway.

Police are canvassing the area for the 26-year-old and have notified all schools in the area.

Authorities provided the following description of Kauhaahaa:

Height: 5'6"
Weight: 130
Eye Color: Hazel
Hair: Long and brown (possibly in a pony tail)
Tattoo: Tattoo's on both left and right side of his neck
Clothign:  Last seen wearing orange shirt and jeans.

Kauhaahaa was serving 5 years for Burglary 2 and Theft 2.  His next parole hearing was scheduled for 2/28/14.
