TYLER, TX (KLTV) -
Tyler Junior College Athletic Director Dr. Tim Drain has confirmed with KLTV-7 that a TJC student who is on the Apache scout football team has been arrested.
Twenty-one-year-old Freddie Lee Allen, Jr. was arrested Sunday evening on the campus of Tyler Junior College. According to Smith County records, Allen's alias is B.J.
Tyler Police confirm Khalid Conner, a passenger in the car, was also arrested and booked in the Smith County Jail. He is charged with possession of marijuana in a drug free zone. Bond has not yet been set.
Allen has also been booked into the Smith County Jail. He is charged with possession of marijuana in a drug free zone, unlawful carrying of a weapon and tampering with identification numbers. Allen's bond has not yet been set.
Tyler Police say Allen is charged with tampering with identification numbers because the serial numbers on the weapon in his possession were scratched off.
We are told that Allen and the second suspect were arrested in a parking lot by Tyler Police on the eastern side of the TJC campus following a traffic stop. TJC campus police were not involved in the actual arrest, but did assist Tyler Police.
Allen, who is a Tatum native, attended Baylor University and played seven games as a redshirt freshman in 2012, but transferred to TJC after the 2012-13 season. Drain says Allen is a member of the scout team, but has not played for the Apaches in a game this year.
