KO OLINA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Honolulu Police are trying to figure out what caused a 62-year-old Waianae  man to run off the road on Farrington Hwy. near Ko Olina Tuesday afternoon.

The Chevy pickup truck went airborne, slicing through a palm tree.  The trunk of the tree was under the truck while the palms were resting on the grassy median.

The driver died at the scene.  Witnesses tell police he was weaving along the highway and appeared to either be having a medical issue or was falling asleep at the wheel.

Honolulu Police did make contact with the man's wife but they were not ready to release the man's name.
