This Morning on Sunrise (10/22/2013)

Aloha and Good Morning!

Here's a look at today's weather forecast, courtesy of Dan Cooke:

Beautiful day on the way! Light trade winds at times today with afternoon sea breezes. Stable, dry conditions with plenty of sunshine. High in Honolulu will be 84 degrees. Country surf is on its way down, but still dangerously big.

Steve Uyehara and Grace Lee have a few of this morning's top stories:

There's no high surf advisory this morning, but there are still big waves on north facing shores. We have new video of a group of three being swept over the rocks by Shark's Cove on Oahu. Two women were rushed to the hospital with head injuries. We'll track the latest on the dangerous conditions.

It was a dramatic landing for a Mokulele express plane. It had to use a Maui highway as an emergency landing strip last night. The Cessna Caravan landed on Piilani Highway near Kihei with 8 passengers and 2 pilots on board. No one was hurt.

Apple will make an announcement today. Best guess is that the company will introduce a new generation of iPads. We'll have details throughout the morning and our tech experts in Geek Beat at 7:10am.

A Kauai surfer had a scary encounter with a shark. He had to punch the beast 8 times to get away. He was so close, he said that he got rug burn. Details on Sunrise.
