HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

It could be the first time ever that two local boys face off in the World Series: Shane Victorino of the Red Sox versus Kolten Wong of the Cardinals.

Before that happens, however, Wong needs to make the World Series roster.

As for Victorino, he'll be in his usual spot in the field and in the lineup for the American League champions. His family will be in their usual spot of rooting for him from the stands.

"Mom's there. Mom left yesterday and his brother including a whole bunch of family members are heading out today and tomorrow" said family patriarch Mike Victorino.

Mike will actually miss Game One of the fall classic due to work engagements, but will pack up and be in Boston for Game Two, then attend the rest of the series in person.

"I think it's exciting because it's been 5 years since the last World Series, and they don't come every day" Mike noted.

"Shane's career is kinda winding down. He doesn't have a lot of years ahead of him, so I'm excited he has another chance" he continued.

Shane played a direct part in getting himself to his third World Series when he crushed a decisive grand slam in Game Six of the ALCS against the Tigers, entering the pantheon of great Boston sports moments.

"I don't know about the word legend, but he's etched his name in history as far as the Boston folklore is concerned" said Mike.

As for Wong and the Cardinals?

"I was born and raised in Hilo, I'm from Hilo, so I want to see the Hilo kids make good---just not against my son".
