AIEA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

U.S. Marshals pounded on the door of 50-year-old Roderick Jenkins' Aiea condo about six this morning.

He has been wanted since 2008 when he failed to register as a sex offender in Michigan.  He has been convicted of Rape, Robbery and Burglary.

"When we knocked on the door, it took a few minutes before someone answered the door," says Deputy U.S. Marshal Donna Diaz.

Jenkins' wife finally opened the door, but Jenkins was hiding in a closet.  He did not resist once he was found.

U.S. Marshals in Hawai'i got word that he was in the state about a week ago.  It took several days to track him to the Pearl One tower on Koauka Loop.

It's unclear if Jenkins has been living in Hawai'i since 2008.

"We believe he has relatives here," says Diaz.  "The was the (reason for his) move, to be with family."

Jenkins' wife was not arrested.
