The Hawaii Symphony opens its fall season this weekend with one of the most famous and talented violinists in world. Sarah Chang, 31, a native of Philadelphia, entered Juilliard at the age of five. Her audition piece was the Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1.

As she explains to Howard Dicus, the piece still speaks to her. Jahja Ling and the Symphony will also perform Leonard Bernstein's "Candide" Overture and Dvorak's Symphony No. 8, in performances at Blaisdell Concert Hall on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Matt Catingub and the Hawaii Pops will perform Sunday evening at the Hawaii Convention Center, and the Hawaii Youth Symphony under Henry Miyamura will perform with Jimmy Borges and Al Harrington Sunday afternoon at Hilton Hawaiian Village.
