Hawaii Health Connector website finally functional
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
"The Hawaii Health Connector has now gone live, as of 10:30 this morning."
Executive Director Coral Andrews uttered those words with as much relief as triumph as the healthcare portal launched after two weeks of delays.
The process for finding out if you are eligible for cost-saving benefits of the Affordable Care Act is a rather simple one.
The website asks you to input some variables, like age, income and whether or not you use tobacco. If eligible, you can then begin browsing different health care plans.
The plans are broken down into four basic categories: platinum, gold, silver, and bronze. Platinum, at one end of the spectrum, offers the lowest expenses but charges the highest premiums. Conversely, bronze offers the lowest premiums, but the highest expenses.
The site, while operating, will continue to evolve.
"We will continue to phase functionality in over time. Most of that functionality just relates to the consumers ability to browse through and navigate, and to filter information," said Andrews.
As for consumers who filled out applications before the site fully launched, the Connector is beginning the process of getting back to them.
"We do anticipate you should be hearing back from our contact center within the next couple of days" added Andrews.
The Hawaii Health Connector can be accessed online at hawaiihealthconnector.com.
Information on the location of the marketplace assisters can be found on the site. The phone number for the telephone hotline is 877-628-5076.
