FARGO, ND (WDAY/CBS) - A woman who planned her dream
wedding only to get stood up before the big day donated her reception to an
organization that serves people with disabilities.
Michelle Marxen said her ex-fiance called her and said he
didn't love her anymore and did not want to get married.
"We spent a whole year planning this wedding, and it
just all ended in a phone call," Marxen said.
Marxen's family spent thousands of dollars and signed
contracts for a Ramada ballroom, flowers, photographers, limousines and music
from a local band.
When Marxen found out that she still had to pay for the
wedding services, she and her family decided to transform the planned wedding
reception into a Halloween party for the people of Creative Care for Reaching
Independence. It is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to enrich the lives
and learning of people with disabilities.
Jody Hudson of CCRI said she was in disbelief.
"I was speechless; I couldn't [believe it],"
