HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Don't let the beautiful morning fool you. Our atmosphere is very unstable and things could change pretty dramatically after lunch today.

We are seeing a few lingering showers from overnight, but it is generally clear, sunny and beautiful across the state this morning. That will likely change this afternoon.

Much like yesterday, interior and leeward neighborhoods will see the skies cloud up, turn dark and ominous, then drop some showers. Those showers could quickly become heavy and there is a chance of lightning and thunder.

The National Weather Service has issued the following statement regarding today's weather:

Weather conditions will be favorable for the development of thunderstorms with possible funnel clouds through 4:00 p.m. If thunderstorms occur, seek shelter to protect yourself from lighting. If funnel clouds extend to the ground, they can produce dangerous winds.

Remain alert for changing weather conditions and stay tuned to NOAA weather radio or local media sources for further information.
