HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

This is Shane Victorino's first postseason with the Boston Red Sox, but he's already picking up the franchise's flair for the dramatic.

The Maui native hit a single in the bottom of the sixth inning to end Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer's no-hit bid, which later led to six unanswered runs as Boston defeated Detroit, 6-5, to tie the American League Championship series at one game apiece.

After Victorino's single, Dustin Pedroia hit an RBI-double to cut Boston's deficit to four runs. In the bottom of the eighth, Detroit used six different pitchers and David Ortiz hit a grand-slam to tie the game at five.

The momentum came to a head in the bottom of the ninth inning when Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit a walkoff RBI-single to seal a Red Sox win.

Victorino has seven hits and three RBIs through this postseason.

Game three is scheduled for Tuesday in Detroit.
