The National Weather Service said an upper level low pressure system north of the islands has kept conditions unstable around Hawaii, with more moisture available east of the islands.
Trade winds have diminished and have become very light, increasing volcanic haze on the Big Island and bringing some of that haze to the smaller islands as well.
Winds are forecast to remain very light for the next several days, allowing for clouds to build up and showers to fall over interior sections and areas such as the Kona slopes of the Big Island of Hawaii.
