HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

South King Street has been reopened between University Avenue and Kuhio Elementary School following the discovery of a suspicious package Thursday afternoon.

Honolulu Police closed the area as a precautionary measure while an HPD bomb squad removed the package.

The suspicious item appeared to be a backpack with wires coming out of it.  It was found attached to a utility pole on South King Street, witnesses say.
