JERUSALEM TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -
A police chase ended when the suspect hit a tree in Jerusalem Township Thursday afternoon.
Police didn't say why they tried to pull the suspect over, but the driver didn't comply and the chase began in east Toledo just after 4:30 p.m. before proceeding east into Jerusalem Township. The suspect lost control of their pick-up truck on a curve of Cedar Point Road and crashed into trees.
Oregon Police, who also got involved in the pursuit, say it's rare to see something like this.
"I've been a police officer
for almost 10 years, and we don't get a lot of high-speed chases," said Sgt. Jason Druckenmiller. "We get a
couple pursuits a year but usually not to this extent."
The driver and passenger of the truck involved were taken to a nearby hospital before they were arrested and charged with fleeing. No one else was hurt in the chase.
Police found a small bag of marijuana in the truck, and also say the driver lied about his identity. They say they expect more charges to come.
