Friends seek information in Maui woman's death

WAILUKU, Hawaii (AP) - Friends of a 40-year-old woman found dead last year in Lahaina will hold a sign-waving vigil for her in the hope that someone will come forward with information about the death.

The Maui News reports friends will gather Friday along the Honoapiilani Highway on the one-year anniversary of Patrice Lawson's death.

Lawson's body was found on the grounds of Kahana Manor by other residents returning from work at about 4 a.m.

The former Oklahoma emergency room nurse had moved to Maui and was working as a server at Pineapple Grill in Kapalau.

Longtime friend Tina McRoberts says Lawson had booked flights back to Oklahoma for her son's November wedding.

Police have not released autopsy results.

Lt. David Silva of the Lahaina Criminal Investigation Division says an investigation remains open.
