Victorino powers Red Sox to ALCS

ST. Petersberg (HawaiiNewsNow) - Shane Victorino set an American League Divisional Series record for most times being hit by a pitch and sparked a series clinching rally for the Boston Red Sox who eliminated the Tampa Bay Rays in game four of the ALDS.

The St. Anthony grad went 1-3 at the plate, driving in the go-ahead run in the 7th inning by running out an in-field single with two outs, that also scored Jacoby Ellsbury to give the Red Sox a 2-1 lead.

In the 9th, Victorino was hit by a Fernando Rodney pitch in the ribs, marking the fourth time in the series he had been hit by a pitch.

For the series the Wailuku native is hitting .429 with 3 RBI and a .556 on base percentage.

Boston will host game 1 of the American League Championship Series on Saturday and will face the winner of the Detroit/Oakland series.
