HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Narda has weakened and is no longer expected to become a hurricane.

Forecasters said at 5 a.m., Narda was located about 1,185 miles southwest of the southern tip of Baja California. Maximum sustained winds have rapidly decreased to 45 miles per hour and was moving to the west-northwest at 13 miles per hour.

Additional weakening is expected during the next 48 hours and Narda is forecast to become a tropical depression by Wednesday and become a remnant low Friday.

Computer forecast models predict that a ridge will develop west of Narda and shear the storm.
