LAS VEGAS, Oct. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Yamie Chess, the forthcoming K-8 supplementary math learning aid series due to launch at Toy Fair 2014 and designed to boost kids' learning outcomes in STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), has teamed up with professional math educational specialist, Benjamin Scott McGahee, a post-graduate University of Arizona math educator and CEO of math tutoring firm, McGahee Mathematics, to offer a free online course of K-8 after-school supplementary math lessons for enrolled and homeschooled elementary and middle school students.
Delivered through the cloud to kids via Yamie Chess's website, Ben McGahee's free math lessons will be aligned to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Curriculum Focal Point standards, covering algebra, geometry, data analysis, number sense and operations, and measurement. The course will be available at: mathlessons.yamiechess.com in late 2013.
Bringing over 10 years of math teaching experience to Yamie Chess, Mr. McGahee holds a B.S. in Mathematics from University of Arizona and M.A. in Mathematics Education from Western Governors University.
Mr. McGahee is a former student of the math professors, Dr. Tony Pitucco (Introduction to Logic) and Dr. Ana Mantilla (Calculus 2) at Pima Community College. McGahee was also a student of the University of Arizona's Dr. Carl Devito (Harmonic Analysis: A Gentle Introduction).
The Yamie Chess math series empowers children into math education. Yamie Chess enables kids to explore the underlying math basis of classic chess, through a fun and engaging cartoon chess universe, where all the characters represent the chess pieces on the board.
