WOOD COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A new competition is getting ready to launch in Wood County, and the winner will get a new roof.

The roof is the grand prize in the ‘No Roof Left Behind' contest, where two local companies – Nail It Down Remodeling and Williby Supplies – are teaming up to help a deserving family.

The prize roof features shingles so strong, they can withstand hurricane-force winds.

To participate, Wood County residents need to nominate someone who needs a new roof.

"Back in the old days, you used to see a car broke down on the side of the road, you'd stop and help your neighbor," said Jeffery Brummitt, from Nail It Down. "You don't see much of that these days, so that's kind of the deal we're trying to get here: Neighbors helping neighbors."

Organizers of the competition are hoping to expand the program to Lucas and Fulton counties next year. This year's winner will be announced next July.
