The transformation of
29-year-old Angela Yeo didn't happen overnight.
"There are no cupcake
workouts," said Yeo. "I lift heavy. I lift as often as I can."
It is the life of a competitive
figure builder - think body building, but without the mass.
"I focus on delts,
lats, and well-built quads," Yeo said.
It's hard work, but it's
paid off. Yeo's interest in the sport began seven years ago when she read about
it in a magazine. Soon it consumed her thoughts.
"It kind of happened
quickly," said her husband Jamie. "You could really see it. The
physical transformation was amazing. Everything about her seemed to
As her muscles grew, so did
her confidence. Still, Angela never wanted to get involved in actual
competitions. That is, until last year.
"I felt if I didn't, I
was going to live with some serious regret," she said. "I went for it and I
ended up doing very well."
She's certainly got the
proof. In less than a year of competing, Angela's worked her way on a U.S. team
that will compete in the Natural Olympia later this fall. Win or lose, she's
got a lot to be proud of.
"It's such a rush and it's
so much work getting there," she said. "It's just so much pride and it's like -
you are really here."
You may think a competitive
figure builder would probably work out at a big gym, but in reality, Angela works
out at home with her treadmill, some weights, and a couple key pieces of

true methods are that way because they work," she explained.
It's the life of a
competitive figure builder, and it's a life that's just perfect for Angela Yeo.
