Woman dies in Kona's Kua Bay

HILO, Hawaii (AP) - The body of a Captain Cook woman has been recovered from Kona's Kua Bay.

The Hawaii Tribune-Herald reports 44-year-old Carol Vandermyden died Friday.

The Hawaii Island Fire Department says in a statement that Vandermyden went to the beach with her husband.

She was spotted floating face-down in the water.

Bystanders began CPR and called the fire department at 2:11 p.m.

Vandermyden was pronounced dead at Kona Hospital at 3:24 p.m.

An autopsy has been ordered to determine cause of death.
