LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
The Clark County Coroner's office released Monday the name of a 71-year-old woman who died during an attempted robbery over the weekend.
Medical examiners said Dixie Chaney Jones died from a gunshot to the abdomen as a result of a homicide.
According to Las Vegas Metro police, Jones was the victim of a deadly armed robbery near H Street and Monroe Avenue at about 10:20 p.m. Saturday.
Police said a car approached Jones, who was outside walking at the time, and attempted to rob her at gunpoint.
When the woman refused to cooperate, the suspect fired a shot in the victim's upper body. The woman was transported to University Medical Center and later died of her injuries at the hospital.
Police said they saw a car with no lights driving away from the scene. Police said officers stopped the vehicle, arresting a 16-year-old and 19-year-old William Copeland.
Copeland was booked into the Clark County Detention Center, charged with murder with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit murder with a weapon and robbery with a deadly weapon.
Authorities withheld the name of the 16-year-old arrested following the incident.
