A Mountain View man has been arrested after a pickup truck he was driving slammed into a bicyclist along Highway 11 near Keaau.
Police arrested 27-year-old Siaiku Aholelei for negligent homicide.
The collision killed the bicyclist, who was identified as 66-year-old Cenon Visaya of Keaau. He died at the scene.
A witness said Aholelei appeared to be racing another truck when he lost control of his vehicle.
"I seen him coming into him," said Charlene Milazzo. "I was thinking, what is he doing? What is he doing? He just lost control and came across the median."
This is the second recent tragedy for Visaya's family. His wife, Josefina Visaya, was killed in a vehicle crash in Kalopa almost exactly a year ago.
