Honolulu police: 2 suspects charged in goat theft

HONOLULU (AP) - Honolulu police say two men have been charged in connection with the stealing of goats from a Kahuku farm.

The Honolulu Police Department said in a statement Friday the two men, both 24 years old, were charged with livestock theft.

The owner of Kahuku Goats farm says more than 20 purebred goats were stolen between Thursday night and Friday morning last week. Keal Pontin believes those responsible wrapped the goats' mouths with duct tape to prevent them from making noise.

Pontin suspects the thieves watched the farm, got to know its routine and then waited for a full moon to steal the animals.

Twenty-one of the goats were pregnant and 10 of them were days away from giving birth.
