SEATTLE, Sept. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Parametric Portfolio Associates LLC ("Parametric"), a subsidiary of Eaton Vance Corp. (NYSE:EV), today announced the launch of Parametric Emerging Markets Core Fund (Investor Class: EAPEX; Institutional Class: EIPEX). Eaton Vance Management is the Fund's investment adviser and Parametric serves as the Fund's sub-adviser. The Fund employs a top-down, disciplined and systematic investment process that emphasizes broad exposure and diversification among emerging market countries, economic sectors and issuers.
The Fund is co-managed by David M. Stein, Ph.D., Chief Investment Officer of Parametric, and Thomas Seto, Managing Director, Portfolio Management. The managers select and allocate the Fund's investments across emerging market countries based on factors such as size, liquidity, level of economic development, and local economic diversification. Relative to capitalization-weighted emerging market indexes, Parametric's approach to country allocation emphasizes smaller, less represented countries and reduces exposure to the largest emerging market economies. The Fund's country allocations are rebalanced to target weights when they exceed pre-determined thresholds. Within each country, the Fund seeks to maintain exposure across key economic sectors.
"We are pleased to expand the range of Parametric's systematic, rules-based emerging market equity strategies that are available to mutual fund investors," said Parametric Chief Executive Officer Brian Langstraat. "Different from the established Parametric Emerging Markets Fund and Parametric Tax-Managed Emerging Markets Fund, the Fund does not expect to maintain significant investments in frontier markets."
Parametric, a majority owned affiliate of Eaton Vance Corp., focuses on the delivery of engineered portfolio solutions, including rules-based alpha-seeking equity, alternative and options strategies, as well as implementation services including tax-managed core equity, futures overlay and centralized portfolio management. As of July 31, 2013, Parametric managed approximately $107.2 billion in total assets on behalf of institutions, high-net-worth individuals and fund investors in the U.S. and internationally. Parametric principal investment centers are in Seattle, Minneapolis, and Westport, Connecticut. For more information about Parametric, visit parametricportfolio.com
