France (HawaiiNewsNow) - Looks like dreams of a world title will be put on hold...for now.

Hawaii's Carissa Moore finished third in the Roxy Pro France, Wednesday, but still remains number one in the Association of Surfing Professionals World Championship Tour standings.

However, a win in France would have given the Punahou grad her second world title in three years. Instead, Moore holds a 200 point lead over Tyler Wright who fell in the Roxy Pro finale to Sally Fitzgibbons.

"Of course I'm bummed I wanted to make the final and have a strong performance, but that's competition I just have to stay happy and focused and get excited for Portugal," Moore said in a news release from the ASP. "I think the biggest key to winning in a place like this is being able to adapt very quickly cause it's always changing out here. I didn't find the waves that really built up and allowed for good surfing."

Moore will get her shot in the final event of the season in the ESP Cascaias Girls Pro in Portugal. The window for that tournament runs between October 3-7.
