Honolulu police arrest goat theft suspect

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A man suspected of using duct tape to steal goats from a North Shore farm has been placed under arrest, according to the Honolulu Police Department.

The Honolulu Police Department says 25-year-old George Makaniole of Waialua was arrested Tuesday for livestock theft. Police say they haven't recovered any goats and their investigation is ongoing.

The owner of the Kahuku Goats farm says more than 20 purebred goats, most of them pregnant. were stolen between Thursday night and Friday morning. Keal Pontin believes the thief used duct tape to keep the animals from making noise.

He suspects the thieves watched the farm, got to know their routine, then waited for a full moon.

21 of the goats were pregnant and 10 of them were days away from giving birth.
