HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - There will be no 13th game for the University of Hawaii football team this season.
In a statement released by the University, UH athletic director Ben Jay contacted the University of Colorado Monday morning to inform the school that it was not accepting an offer to play the Buffalo on October 19th.
The game became an option for Hawaii last week following the cancellation of Colorado's game against Fresno State on September 14th due to severe flooding in Colorado. Both schools could not re-schedule and UH was one of a handful of schools with a potential available date.
Hawaii could have reportedly generated in the neighborhood of $600 thousand dollars, but due to the short notice of the trip, likely would not have generated enough net profit to make the trip to Boulder worth while.
Hawaii will play 12 games this season and are 0-3 thus far.
UH hosts #25 Fresno State on Saturday, Sept. 28th at 6:00pm.
