Man charged in Big Island home invasion

HILO, Hawaii (AP) - A 30-year-old man indicted by a Hilo grand jury on robbery, theft and kidnapping counts has been arrested.

The Hawaii Tribune-Herald reports 30-year-old Mark Yun Jin McCurley was arrested Monday while awaiting a preliminary hearing in Hilo District Court.

Police say McCurley and two other suspects on July 24 were invited to a Leilani Estates home. The 56-year-old owner told police that McCurley held a pillow over her head while the other two ransacked the home.

Police say they fled with items worth nearly $13,000.

Thirty-year-old Kawika Benny Kahee was indicted on the same charges. The woman identified Kahee as the man who hit her twice in the head.

A bench warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Police have not identified the third suspect.
