Nashville man finds his own bike for sale on Craigslist

A Madison man thought he'd never see his motorcycle after it was stolen, but he found it for sale online one year later and decided to thwart the suspect.

"The guy called me. And then, I, you know, I just played it off like, 'I got to check with the old lady first.' And then called him back and was like, 'Where do you want to meet?'" says Race Paquette.

Paquette's motorcycle was stolen from his home in broad daylight one year ago.

When his friend spotted it for sale on Craigslist, they decided to set the suspect up. They met at the Waffle House on White Bridge Road, where Paquette pretended to be an interested buyer with police standing by to watch the deal go down.

"I said, 'Can I start it?' He said, 'Sure.' I started it up and took off, and I rode it around on the sidewalk and to the policemen in the Waffle House parking lot. And then they just asked him to come see them," says Paquette.

Paquette said he couldn't believe his motorcycle was in the same condition as the day it was stolen.

He's still paying off that ride, so he's certainly relieved to have it back.

Lawrence Orlando, the man accused in the incident, told police he bought the bike from someone else and didn't steal it. Police charged him with theft of property.
