KANEOHE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Police say a woman is in extremely critical condition after being hit in the parking lot of the Windward City Shopping Center in Kaneohe.

It happened just after 4:30 p.m.

Police say it appears a male driver experienced a medical condition that caused him to accelerate uncontrollably.  Witnesses say he hit three parked cars in front of 24 hour fitness and then hit the 30 year-old female victim who was walking up a hill in the parking lot.

The driver then continued down the hill and across Aumoku Street before hitting a fence.

The 49-year-old driver was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Aumoku Street was reopened just after 8 p.m.
