HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Several events are planned in Hawaii for Wednesday to remember those who lost their lives in the September 11th terrorist attacks and those who have died in the war against terror in the twelve years since.

At noon, Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie and Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell will join first responders and others for a ceremony at Tamarind Park in Downtown Honolulu.

Another memorial, this one on Maui, was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. at the Westin Ka'anapali Resort. Participants planned on paddling out into the ocean and scattering 2,977 blossoms for each of the victims of the terror attacks.

Gov. Abercrombie also ordered all flags statewide to fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset to observe the anniversary of the attacks.
