(RNN) - It was a video that introduced us to the dangerous side of twerking; the one in which a saucy young lady set out to make a little something special for her boyfriend.
The one that ended with the woman falling on a glass table covered in lit candles, setting herself aflame, screaming in terror and agony.
How could something so right go so horribly wrong?
Turns out it didn't. The video was all a prank on the internet, and Jimmy Kimmel is to blame.
The truth was revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday night, when he showed the video in its entirety. What we didn't see in the original version was Jimmy coming to the twerker's rescue, fire extinguisher at the ready.
"Thanks Jimmy Kimmel," said Caitlin Heller a.k.a. Daphne Avalon, stunt woman.
"All part of the job, ma'am," Kimmel, in matching pink top, mugs for the camera. Fin.
He said the video was recorded for the show months ago and quietly posted Sept 3 on YouTube.
Even though it received no promotion other than digital word of mouth, the video went viral within days. Give the assist to Miley Cyrus, as she likely sent people searching for authentic twerking videos after witnessing her failed attempt at the MTV VMAs.
