Hirono still undecided on potential action against Assad

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

With three members of Hawaii's congressional delegation having already spoken out against a military intervention in Syria, the fourth told Hawaii News Now on Monday that she was still undecided about how she will vote when asked to authorize an attack on the Assad regime.

Below is an official statement from Mazie Hirono:

"This is one of the toughest decisions a member of Congress makes. I am reviewing the facts surrounding the reported chemical weapon attacks, the administration's plan and the scope of the authorizing resolution. The use of chemical weapons is universally abhorrent and deplorable, but we should always be cautious about the use of force abroad, especially after the rush to war in Iraq. My decision will rest on whether the administration's plan would advance our national interests."

Earlier Monday morning, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard joined fellow congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa and Sen. Brian Schatz in voicing their opposition against a military strike against a government accused of using chemical weapons.
