Man enters plea in 2011 fatal crash case

HONOLULU (AP) - A 23-year-old man charged with negligent homicide in a 2011 fatal Honolulu crash has pleaded not guilty.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports Jameson Hong entered the plea Tuesday in state court. His trial was set for November.

He is free on $15,000 bail.

Honolulu police say Yong early on Nov. 19, 2011, drove south in the northbound lanes of the H-2 freeway.

His car crashed head-on with a pickup a half-mile south of the Ka Uka Boulevard exit. A northbound sport utility vehicle crashed into the back of the pickup.

The driver of the truck, 40-year-old Lance Miyashiro of Wahiawa, died at the scene.

Yong suffered critical injuries and had to be extricated from his car. The SUV driver suffered serious injuries.
