HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Honolulu police have closed a portion of Pensacola Street due to what they say could be a possible gas leak.

Pensacola Street is closed between Elm Street and Rycroft Street.

Fire officials say there appears to be a small leak on the campus of McKinley High School. Crews can see and hear the gas leaking near a sidwalk on the Pensacola Street side of the campus, but can't shut if off ntil they figure out where the pipe leads to.

Capt. Terry Seelig from the Honolulu Fire Department says the leak is a small one from a Hawaii gas pipeline underground.

A Hawaii Gas representative will be on scene as crews excavate and repair the line. One company from the HFD will remain there on standby.

No evacuations are in place.
