HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The man suspected of violently threatening Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard appeared today before a federal judge in San Diego.

Aniruddha Sherbow, 43, was arrested in Mexico for threatening Gabbard's life.

Court documents revealed Friday indicate that not only did he email threats to Gabbard he also left an expletive-laden voicemail on her personal cell phone.

She received the call on August 1.

In an email Sherbow wrote, "I, Aniruddha Sherbow, with the Divine as my witness, do hereby solemnly vow to find Tulsi Gabbard, wheresoever she may be, and to sever her head from her body."

Sherbow allegedly began sending Gabbard crude messages two years ago. The Congresswoman told Hawaii News Now that she is just grateful it is all over.

"I just want to say that our Honolulu Police Department, actually each of our counties, our state law enforcement and our federal law enforcement have all been tremendous help and have done a wonderful job in bringing about some closure to this situation," said Gabbard.

A hearing next month will decide when Sherbow's trial will be held in Washington D.C.

He faces a five year prison sentence if convicted.
