Texas-based soldier from American Samoa killed

PAGO PAGO, American Samoa (AP) - The military says a Texas-based soldier from American Samoa has been killed in Afghanistan.

The Pentagon said Thursday 1st Lt. Jason Togi of Pago Pago died of injuries sustained when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device.

Togi died in Hasan Karez on Monday.

The 24-year-old was assigned to the 2nd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas.
