HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
A two-year-old boy was killed in Moiliili Wednesday morning after he was hit by a vehicle, according to paramedics.
The accident happened at around 7:20 a.m. near the intersection of Kapiolani Boulevard and Kaaha Street.
"The 37-year-old female, who was taking her daughter to school, was backing out of her driveway and as she pulled forward did not see the two-year-old on the sidewalk and ran the child over," said Lt. Bobby Towne with the HPD Traffic Division.
Both the victim and the driver are neighbors, living on opposite sides of the small street.
Police have opened two cases: one for third degree negligent homicide, the other for endangering the welfare of a minor. Police say the toddler was outside unsupervised.
