It's been a tough few years to be a Dougherty Trojan on the gridiron.
Wins have come few and far over the past four seasons.
Second year head coach Corey Joyner hopes that's about to change, especially for his seniors sake.
Corey's brother, Uyl, has joined the staff from Albany State to run the Trojans' offense this year, and Corey believes that will help.
He says this year's team is extremely motivated to turn around their recent misfortune.
The eight seniors on the 2013 team have experienced only four wins in their careers, and Joyner says that has pushed them this offseason.
"If you look at our charts, as far as attendance in the weight room, attendance during the summer, I can't pinpoint one senior missing a workout. I can't pinpont one senior missing a practice," says Joyner. "So they're very serious about what they're doing and they want to be successful and they're hungry for the success."
The Trojans will again turn to Mike Whatley at quarterback.
The junior was one of the lone bright spots for Dougherty in 2012, throwing for over 2000 yards.
Dougherty opens the 2013 season Friday night in Leesburg, taking on Lee County in the Trojan Bowl.
