Kealoha Pilares' career in the National Football League has hit a speed bump.
The former University of Hawaii receiver was waived Saturday by the Carolina Panthers.
The release comes two days after Pilares injured his knee in Carolina's preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Pilares was the team's fifth-round draft pick in 2011, but caught only two passes in two seasons with the Panthers.
