Deedy jury heads home after fourth full day of deliberating with no verdict

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Jurors in Christopher Deedy's murder trial began their deliberations at about 9:10 this morning and were dismissed at 4:00 p.m. without reaching a verdict.

It's the fourth straight day the twelve-person panel discussed Christopher Deedy's guilt or innocence in the fatal shooting of Kollin Elderts.

The prosecutor claims the federal agent was drunk and instigated a confrontation with Elderts in a Waikiki McDonald's on Nov. 5, 2011. Deedy said he shot Elderts in self defense.

A second-degree murder conviction carries a life sentence with the possibility of parole.  Jurors do not have the option of considering a lesser charge of manslaughter.

The jury will resume its deliberations Monday.  When a verdict is reached we will carry it live on
